The Mercedes-Benz charging network is intrinsically linked to the company’s corporate strategy, Ambition 2029, which is a stepping stone towards the broader goal of becoming CO2-neutral across the entire value chain by 2039. This ambition is not only about sustainability in an environmental sense but also about creating lasting economic value. We adopt a holistic approach, continuously enhancing the customer experience in the realm of electromobility.

To alleviate “range anxiety” and boost the acceptance of electric mobility, we are committed to our PUBLIC SOLUTIONS in the area of High-Performance Charging (HPC) for electric vehicles. We emphasize the importance of HPC compatibility of charging systems alongside the development of new vehicle platforms and highly efficient powertrains. To ensure our customers have access to a comprehensive and accessible charging network, Mercedes-Benz forms partnerships with various charging station operators and is an active shareholder in the global IONNA, IONITY, and IONCHI networks. Our own Mercedes-Benz charging network further allows us to specifically address the requirements and technical developments of our vehicles – always with the goal of offering customers their unique Customer Journey. Linked through the Mercedes me Charge service, customers gain access to one of the world’s largest charging networks.

At home, Charging@HOME is not just a matter of convenience; it represents a paradigm shift that awakens new customer expectations and presents us, as an automotive manufacturer, with new and exciting challenges. We are on the cusp of an era where the automobile transcends its traditional role and becomes an integral part of our energy ecosystem. In the past, the energy system was characterized by stable, non-volatile energy sources. However, with the increasing share of renewable energies, we are experiencing a transformation towards a decentralized and volatile energy mix. This change necessitates a future-proof energy system based on flexibly controllable assets. In this context, electric vehicles open up new possibilities for use as an energy storage. The smart integration of electric vehicles into the power grid enables the realization of additional services, such as grid services. To unlock the full potential of electromobility, it is crucial to optimally integrate the vehicle into the energy ecosystem through various interfaces. We see this requiring close collaboration between car manufacturers, energy providers, and technology companies.

At a height of 38 meters on the roof of the former coal washing plant, the event room, which is glazed on three sides, offers a breathtaking panoramic view – from the arena on Schalke to the Essen skyline and the Oberhausen gasometer.

The Erich Brost Pavilion is located in the coal washing plant of the Zollverein Essen UNESCO World Heritage Site.
